Travel useful guidance
Our travel insurance is there for you 24/7 but remember these hints and tips for an even safer trip away.
Before you travel
Ensure your holiday gets off to the best possible start with this advice.
- Before you go on holiday make sure you are aware of any vaccinations you may need before you go, take any prescription medicines with you and inform your travel insurer of any pre-existing medical conditions
- Make sure you have the new European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) if you are travelling to an EU member country - it will ensure that you have easy access to healthcare in that country. Obtain your EHIC from www.ehic.org.uk
Looking after your valuables
Protect those things you hold most dear.
- While travelling, never pack valuables, passports or money in 'checked-in' bags, keep them with you in your hand luggage or on your person
- At your hotel, keep valuables and cash in a safe deposit box or in the hotel safe if available. Some hotels will allow you to book a safety deposit box in advance or will have them installed in bedrooms
- Remember to inform the local police in the event of any loss or theft
Regular travelling
If you're away a lot, this advice could make things easier for you
- Ensure you are always covered for those last minute weekend breaks or family holidays by taking out an annual travel policy
- If you are often abroad then it is worth comparing banks overseas cash withdrawal rates as some are better than others
